A reusable ejection charge well — iterated since 2018 into a simple, repeatably reliable dual-charge system that drops into any of my high-power builds.
Overview
This project is documented, but the build log hasn't started. It'll appear here once the first step is posted.
A recovery-electronics subsystem I keep reusing across builds rather than rebuilding it each time. After iterating on the design since 2018, it has settled into a simple, repeatably reliable ejection charge well.
The well uses standard 1.5 mm centrifuge tubes to hold the black powder / pyrogen, seating the igniter head at the base of the charge for a clean, consistent burn. Brass screws and knurled inserts connect the igniter wires to the internals of the ebay, and the dual primary/secondary layout keeps a backup charge on every flight.
The CAD models are published on Printables, and the full write-up — with the charge well in action on the Baby-T — is in the Ejection Charge Well field note.
